Sonny
/
5.5 years old
/
January 2012
Sonny came to AZBTR when his owner's ill health forced them to rehome their cats and Sonny. He originally belonged to the son and he left Sonny behind when he moved out. Sonny has been in the family since he was a puppy. He is now 5 and-a-half. He is housebroken, good with cats, children, and other dogs. He has never had a doggy-door due to the coyotes in the area where he lived. He is a very sweet and energetic dog. He weighs about 25 lbs. and is healthy with a lovely coat, clear eyes and skin. He is a noisy breather and snorts quite a bit which earned him the nick-name of "piggy". Sonny's foster family was going to keep him but one of their existing Bostons was not happy with this decision. Sonny is looking for his new family and he will not disappoint! Such a sweet boy!

Belle is due to come to AZBTR next week. She is a sweet girl who is the victim of divorce. Her owners have moved and they can't take her with them. Belle is 10 years old and very well behaved. She is spayed and up to date on shots. She is a little scared of thunderstorms (so am I!). We will have more on Belle once she is in rescue.

Florence "Flo"

8-9 years
/
January 2012
AZBTR was contacted by a kind gentleman in Florence, AZ when he noticed that a tiny BT had been dropped off in his rural neighborhood. He saw the car drive in, then out, and lo and behold a little BT trotted into his yard. He took her in and called us right away. Florence "Flo" is a tiny, 14 lbs. lady who we estimate to be about 8-9 years young. She is a little stiff in her back legs and we are going to get that checked out right away. It doesn't slow her down a bit and she is full of BT attitude. After a thorough vet exam, a manicure, and a bubble bath she will begin interviewing potential new families... she is QUITE the Princess! If you would like to be considered please contact our adoption coordinator.

Oreo

**ADOPTION PENDING**Oreo is a darling female BT who was turned into AZBTR because her young owner did not have any time for her. We know that she is spayed and lost an eye in a fight with a Labrador Retriever some years ago. She is about 16 lbs, a darling little wiggly girl! She has a beautiful coat and is very friendly. After some time in foster care we feel that Oreo would do best as an only dog, but other dogs are not out of the question either. She just needs to learn manners! But she will do just fine being the center of attention. Oreo has gone to her new home! She doesn't have to share her new mom's attention with any other dogs... just an old kitty cat and she doesn't mind that so far! Her new mom loves her and we have been told that she is already being super spoiled!!!

January 2012
Wink is a 4-5 Yr old male Boston Terrier who was taken off the county shelter euthanasia list by AZBTR. He was due to be euthanized because he had a bad eye. Wink is just the sweetest boy and adorable to boot! At 16 lbs of solid muscle he is quite the little nugget and a GREAT kisser. His bad eye will need to be removed prior to adoption and he will be neutered as well. His other eye is in perfect health. His coat is a beautiful brindle and white with no signs of allergy issues. He seems to do just fine with other dogs and loves to play! We are so happy we could save this little guy. Meet Wink and you'll be in love. **Update** Stitches are out and he's doing great! He's ready for his new family!

January 2012
Baxter is an 8 year old blue-eyed BT boy who was turned into AZBTR after getting into a fight with a larger male boston in the home and his owners turned him over to us so we could treat his injuries. He is a very sweet boy after going through so much. He was in quite a bit of pain when we got him. **UPDATE** Staples are out and he's feeling much better!! Some info from his foster mom: Loves Kids, as long as they are gentle and don't poke him.
--He does not know how to play (he looks at a ball like it is an alien) and we've tried many times to find something that interests him.
--He loves to cuddle.
--He loves to sleep on the bed and will do his best to kick the human off of it.
--He loves the occasional tomato and goldfish cracker.
--He can sleep for hours like a champion.
--He loves to be clean, but hates baths.
--He will let you touch him anywhere (ears, feet, nose, and mouth) and never even blinks.
--Despite the healed bites, he loves his neck rubbed.
--He loves people and will let anyone pet him.
--He hates cats.
--He gets cold on morning walks and needs a sweater.
--He is shy about his eliminations and wants privacy.
--He doesn't chew on bones or shoes or anything.
--He is very good on a leash and will not pull.
--It is VERY hard to say no to those eyes and he knows it.

Daisy now "Marisela"

December 2011
**ADOPTION PENDING**Daisy is a stunning chocolate and white 1.5 year old female Boston Terrier who was turned into AZBTR because her family did not have time for her and she was exhibiting destructive behavior. This is what typically happens when young BT's get bored. So far she has not chewed or destroyed anything in her foster home! She is being a very good girl and is enjoying trips to the dog park where she is quite the head-turner... she's just beautiful. She gets along well with other dogs and she doesn't mind cats. She loves children also. She is spayed and will be up to date on vaccines before adoption. At times she will lift one of her back legs and not put any weight on it, but it's only until she shakes out the kinks. It is not an issue at all (and we will get it checked just to be sure) but we believe in full disclosure so we wanted to let you all know. Actually those kinds of knee problems are quite common in boston terriers.

December 2011
**MEDICAL HOLD**Walter found himself back with AZBTR after his owner had to move to a care facility. Walter is around 7, house-trained, very active and has learned how to behave with other dogs in the home. He had done fine as an only-dog but now that he has playmates, he has really enjoyed it. His socialization only continues to improve in his foster home. Walter will need some oral surgery to remove a problematic salivary gland. We hope to have that addressed soon so he can move onto the family that will give him the forever home he deserves. He is extremely sweet.**Update** Walter came through his surgery with flying colors. We hope that this will make him feel better! Special thanks to Dr. Egar who made this surgery possible for rescue... he is a very special friend of rescue!

MO'nique "Mo"

December 2011
MO'nique "Mo" is a very sweet young 2.5 yr old, female BT who was turned into rescue because she was ill and her owners could not afford to treat her. She had stopped eating, was extremely underweight, and was quite lethargic. After having her tested for everything to get to the bottom of her problem she was found to be Valley Fever positive and we started treating that immediately. Days later her foster mom discovered the REAL problem with her lack of appetite...she pooped out a 4 ft piece of twine or rope or fabric of some kind. After that Mo immediately started to improve. Her appetite was back and she was bouncy and playful. She will need to be spayed prior to adoption but we want to get some weight on her prior to that. Valley Fever is nothing to be afraid of, it is not contagious, and can be treated very inexpensively. It would not stop me from adopting this beautiful girl, but I already have a full house.

Leo
/
15 months
/
December 2011
Leo is a 15 month old BT bundle of love and energy who wears his foster brothers out! He has not had one accident in the house but his foster mom is always making sure he goes out at least every hour and right after he is let out of his kennel. He likes to take all the popular toys and hide them under the bed so no one can play with them. He also loves to sit on your lap and sleeps under the covers at the bottom of the bed. We think he would do good in a home with other dogs to play with or if he was going to be an only dog he would need lots of play time with his owners. He loves to chew so make sure to have plenty of nyla bones and kongs around or he will eat your shoes! He is still very much a puppy! He has the cutest heart shaped mark on his nose and long legs and looks very inquisitive. He coat is an amazing carmel color with dark stripes making him look like a tiger! We have never seen this at AZBTR! We noticed his face was a little red and we think it might be the grass in the yard. We have had a skin scraping done and he has no infection of any kind. That should clear up with some Benadryl during allergy season. He does not like to have hands near his muzzle because we notice he gets a bit nippy. His foster mom thinks it is him playing but she is working on stopping that part of play. He is a great boy who needs a forever home!

Cosmo
/
2-3 years
/
December 2011
**ADOPTION PENDING**Cosmo found himself with AZBTR because the children in the home developed allergies. The family was heartbroken to part with him. He is house-trained, good with children, and good with other dogs. He is a strong puller on the leash and will need a bit of guidance in the leash manners. He is not a barker unless there is a reason. He is kennel trained. He will be vaccinated and neutered this coming week. He's negative for heartworm and parasites. While we have no medical records for Cosmo, he is a very young dog. His teeth are bright white and all there---he's 2, perhaps 3 at the most. He is not tiny---probably 28 to 30 lbs. of stocky, sweet Boston Terrier. He has a lot of the "bully" breed in him.

Winston

11 years old
/
September 2011
Winston is an 11 yr old neutered male Boston Terrier that was turned into AZBTR due to a change in his owner's travel schedule. Winston is a sweetheart. Winston has a ton of energy for an old man his age. He lives with his foster family that has a 3 year old BT and he holds his own with him. Winston gets along great with other dogs and loves to snuggle and sit close, if not on your lap. He is on an eye therapy regimen to combat dry eye. He can see just fine it’s just that his eye gets very dry. Eye drops twice-a-day and his eye is good as new. He is very friendly with people and enjoys letting the neighborhood kids pet him. He will make a family, with or without kids, a great companion.
