Boston Terriers Available for Adoption

We may have more dogs than are shown on this page, and dogs are coming in regularly so please submit an Adoption Application and get on our list of potential adopters. All of our dogs are spayed and neutered.

You must send in your adoption application and pass the home visit before we can discuss any questions you have about our available dogs. We are often not able to return phone messages or answer e-mails about specific available dogs on the website, unless you have been approved to adopt already.

We will try to respond to your application in a timely matter, but please remember that we are volunteers, and often get backed up.

If you have already submitted an Adoption Application or have already been approved to adopt, and are interested in one of our available dogs, please direct your questions to AZBTRescue@hotmail.com.

PictureName
Katie / 10 years / July 2010
Katie came to AZBTR when her time was up at the Prescott shelter and a wonderful volunteer from another rescue alerted us. Katie was taken there when her elderly owner went into a nursing home. Katie is approximate 10 years young. She is getting used to her foster home and gets along well with her younger foster sister. She is well mannered and will not get up on the couch or bed. She prefers to lay at the edge of the couch and be petted. She is well mannerd in the back yard and loves walks on the leash around the neighborhood. Use caution around open doors as she has dashed once. When meeting someone new she is somewhat reserved but warms up once she has a bit to adjust and especially if they have treats. She would be an excellent companion to an older person who is looking for a great pet that is not high energy. Katie's coat and skin is in somewhat rough shape but we know that wtih a good diet and some TLC she will be shiney and gorgeous in no time. She has no known allergies and seems to be housebroken. She is a sweet shy girl looking for a nice quiet home and someone to love her.
Bandit / 3-4 years / July 2010
Bandit was turned into AZBTR because he family was moving He is super sweet and is getting along well with the BT's in his foster home. He is a big 30 pounder, but he is a little overweight. He should be around 26-27 or so to look healthy. His tongue is extra long so it pokes out of the side of his mouth. Too cute! Really pretty markings with that perfect Haggerty spot. He is doggie door trained and is doing well with his crate training (meaning he doesn't love it, but goes in without too much of a fuss). Bandit was just neutered and is ready for his new home. Overall, just a big tank with a sweet disposition.
Ellie May / 2-3 years / June 2010
This beautiful girl came to us after having a litter of puppies. She is young, frisky and very pretty. Her coat is a deep mahogany and chocolate brindle. She's gained some weight and is ready for her new home. She will swim and likes to play fetch. She is good with all but one of the Bostons in her foster home, another female, so a meet and greet with prospective canine family members is a must. She does not like cats at all. She would do well as an only dog if she was given lots of regular exercise. She would enjoy another Boston as a playmate, a submissive female or a playful male. She has been good with children visiting her foster home---lots of kisses were given. When she meets you she will immediately ask you for a belly rub. A sweet girl whose breeding days are over and she is ready to be spoiled and loved!
Gigi / 10 years / June 2010
Gigi was surrendered to AZBTR when her lifelong elderly owner could no longer take care of her. Gigi is 10 years young and we believe she has been an only dog. She is the quintessential lapdog! Gigi is housebroken, kennel trained, and she is learning to use the doggy door. Gigi gets along with other dogs, but she really loves people. She loves to sit on her foster mom’s lap, get kisses and belly rubs, and she follows her foster mom around the house. Gigi squeaks like a piglet when she’s excited and she is a champion kisser. Gigi is a very active girl who is looking for a family that wants to give her a lifetime of hugs and kisses.
Roxy / 1-2 years / June 2010
**ADOPTION PENDING**"Foxy Roxy" came to AZBTR from the county shelter. She failed her evaluation for "temperment" which, if you ever met Roxy, is pretty funny. She is a sweet young girl with lots of energy. She is about 1-2 years old and LOVES the baby pool at her foster home. She gets along great with her BT foster brothers and doesn't even mind the cat. Her mom is brushing up on her potty training and she doesn't mind the crate much. She will be going to the vet for a health check this week and then should be ready for adoption. She is still very puppy-ish and a really happy girl!
Tank / 8 months / June 2010
**ADOPTION PENDING**Tank was turned into AZBTR by a woman who felt she wasn't equipt to handle an active puppy and was not familiar with the breed. Tank is a very sweet, handsome boy who is your typical BT puppy. He loves to play and is very friendly.
Cody / 1-2 years / April 2010
**ADOPTION PENDING**Cody is a neutered male BT that was found as a stray by an Avondale vet. After they were unsuccessful in finding his family they turned him over to AZBTR. Cody is a fearless 15 lb brindle boy, neutered and healthy. He does not like garden hoses and can be obsessive about toys. After evaluating Cody these past weeks we feel he would do best in a home as the only dog. He gets along okay with other dogs but because of he is a bit obsessive about HIS toys we feel he would do best as an only dog. Cats and small children would probably not be a good idea either. He is an adorable little boy with tons of energy. We are having a professional trainer work with him and his foster mom and dad to teach him some manners.
Jojo - Senior 7 / 11 years / April 2010
Jojo is one of the Senior 7 that was turned into AZBTR. He is 11 yrs old and still very active. He is a handsome brindle and white boy with some gray mixed in. This is what Jojo's foster mom has to report: Jojo is a total lover. He loves to sit on your lap, and he also enjoys sleeping under the covers! He is very mellow and gets along great with the other dogs, and he completely ignores the cat. He is currently learning how to use the dog door and is starting to get the hang of it. Jojo is just one of those dogs who will show the world that all you need is love!
Angel - Senior 7 / 12 1/2 years. / April 2010
Angel is one of the Senior 7 rescued by AZBTR. Angel is mommy to Annie, Jojo, Sugar, and Beau. She is 12 1/2 years young. Angel had an eye removed prior to coming to us. As you can see she has very limited sight in her other eye. This does not stop Angel from getting around. Her foster mom calls her the "four wheeling dog" because she just follows her nose and goes up and over anything in her way. Angel will require some special care because of her sight limitations. She can not be left unattended with a doggie door as she might not be able to find her way back inside. She is crate trained but is perfectly fine being left alone to nap on a soft doggie bed. She is a quiet girl who loves to nap and loves cheese treats. She gets along with all the other dogs in her foster home and doesn't bother the cat. She is fine with children too!
Bubba - Senior 7 / 12 years / April 2010
Bubba is one of the Senior 7 rescued by AZBTR. Bubba is daddy to Annie, Jojo, Sugar, and Beau. Despite his age, he is very active and up for a good romp with the younger dogs. He is housetrained, loves his kennel and seems to enjoy the company of other dogs although his play style is rather crude. He's not sure what to do with toys but he has started to nibble on a nylabone to pass the time. If unsure of his surroundings or the people, he is quick to roll over and yield for a belly rub. He has an intense, loving gaze that has won him quite a few fans. This guy does have a minor health issue that his foster mom would be happy to discuss with any interested adopters. While he still has some cosmetic blemishes, his new soft haircoat is starting to come in. He tolerates his minor treatments well. His appetite is great and he is gaining weight and muscle. He has not made a sound since coming here but is alert to all the sounds and investigates worthy disturbances. He is an easy guy to have around the house. For details on his medical history contact Vicki 480-226-3279
Sugar - Senior 7 / 11 yrs. / April 2010
Sugar is one of the Senior 7, sibling to Beau, Jojo, and Abby. She is a very sweet girl who came to us after her eye had already been removed. While her other eye has some minor issues she does have sight in that eye. Her foster mom reports that she likes to play with the other dogs in her foster home and she enjoys swimming in the pool. She is a very cuddly girl who needs love.
Grace now "Millie" / 1-2 years / April 2010
**ADOPTION PENDING**Grace is a 1-2 year old female Boston Terrier who was picked up from Animal Control by AZBTR. She was considered unadoptable because she was missing an eye (silly!). Grace was born without her right eye, and her eye socket is still a bit open, we are guessing the eye just never developed. Her left eye is perfectly fine. Grace was also Heartworm positive when we got her but has been through her course of treatment and is all better now. She will have to remain on Heartworm preventative for the rest of her life however, just the regular Heartguard stuff. Now that she is heartworm free, Grace is schedule to be spayed and have her eye socket taken care of later this month. We are going to make that eye look a little prettier. She is quite the little princess and we think she is beautiful! A sweet little girl who really bonds to her people. She is not too fond of her crate and would probably do best with a family who does not leave her alone for long periods of time. She is looking for a lap to sleep on and a new family to love. "Millie" has found her forever home! She had her eye surgery and will be pretty as a picture in no time!
Violet / 4 yrs / November 2009
**ADOPTION PENDING**Violet is a very well behaved 4 yr old spayed female who came to AZBTR when her family could no longer afford to care for her allergy issues. It has taken some time to figure out Violet’s medical needs, but we’re on the right track now and we’ve seen major improvement in her condition. Violet is a special needs girl due to her allergies; she requires prescription kibble, medication, and allergy shots. She has just started her allergy shot regimen and we are very hopeful that it will be a successful treatment plan. Violet is a beautiful, brindle and white girl who loves to play. Her tail is a bit on the longer side for a BT but it never stops wagging; she also has long legs and big goofy ears. Violet is a very sweet girl who loves her ball and gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home. She was around a young child in her previous home. Violet is housebroken, crate trained, and she knows basic commands. She loves to cuddle with people and while she will sleep in her kennel at night, she prefers to sleep in bed with her foster mom. She may have some special requirements but we think that the love that you will get from Violet, or "Vivi" as she is affectionately known, will be totally worth it.
