Agile Bostons in Scottsdale

Arizona Boston Terrier Rescue wants to encourage Boston owners to get their dogs involved in activities that are fun for human and canine. One such activity is dog agility (that is, teaching a dog to run a course made up of jumps, tunnels and other obstacles). With that goal in mind, AZBTR sponsored special awards for Bostons that participated in an agility competition, February 29-March 3, 2008, held at WestWorld in Scottsdale. Twelve Bostons and their owners from four states attended the event. Ten of them competed over our days, and between them they earned 30 qualifying scores and two titles. In 2007 eight Bostons attended the event, so this was a nice increase in participation. It was fun to see all of the Bostons running and winning, and it provided proof that Boston Terriers are hardy little athletes, not couch potatoes!

Ribbons were awarded to the human-dog teams with the highest number of qualifying scores and fastest Yards Per Second times:

Excellent B: Sandy Crook and Hattie from San Diego, CA (4 Qs). Gerald Grasso and Dylan from San Antonio, TX also had 4 Qs.

Excellent A: Laura Bays and Chance from Las Cruces, NM (2 Qs). Hokie Wiley and Betty Boop also had 2 Qs.

Novice B: Hokie Wiley and Mack, also from Las Cruces, NM (5 Qs)

Thanks to Sandy Crook, Melanie Magisos and Meghan Thomas for making the high point ribbons possible.

Featured Success Story - May 2008

Find out how you and your Boston can be our next Success Story!
We were so pleased to receive an update on Rosie who was adopted by a wonderful couple in Apache Junction in 2007.  It seems that Rosie and her Pug/Boston sister, Bella, are having lots of  fun together!  We also received news that Rosie and Bella's mom and dad recently tied the knot!  Congratulations!!!
Leila loves her rope bonies!

Bella and Rosie are fine. They have their toys, their beds, and all the things that make their life comfy. As soon as I find my camera I'll send you a pix that I took of them... tooooo cuuute. They fell asleep back to back with their heads touching. They are great friends, and Rosie has helped Bella to be less bossy. Rosie can hold her own. Rosie does the cutiest thing when I come home after being out for a few hours....she wags her crooked tail, turns her butt to the side while she's wagging, and she curls her lip up, shows her teeth and smiles...I'm in love...and wedged between my girls as I type this.

Here's the photo of two very tired girls who played all day
