Featured Success Story - January 2008

Find out how you and your Boston can be our next Success Story!
It is with great joy that we post this Success Story.  You may remember the tough beginnings little Leila had.  During her spay it was discovered that she was pregnant.  We were unable to save her puppies and she had a very rough recovery from her surgery.  Aside from her medical issues, Leila was truly a "love starved" Boston Terrier.  The perfect remedy for this was adopters Marissa and Ian.  She has blossomed into a well mannered young lady thanks to the love and devotion of her new family.  We received the following email from Leila's new mom and dad:
Leila loves her rope bonies!

We are very happy to have a dog like Leila, our “Lady-Licks-A-Lot”. Always enjoying the company of people and gobbling up all the attention she can get. Our families would have treats on stand-by whenever we visit. They always would ask if Leila is with us whenever we are on our way to visit.

Leila came to us from the AZBTR described as a happy-go-lucky, loves people, and loves any attention in her bio. We were also told she doesn’t quite know how to play with other dogs, let alone sharing her toys. After acknowledging that and wanting to work with her on these small things, we found this to be completely the opposite. A friend of ours brought her dog, Buddy, an Australian herding dog to meet with Leila. The two hit it off right away and became best of friends. She even shared her toys! We thought that the bio was talking about a different dog.

In the three months of having her, she has successfully mastered commands in both voice and sign language. Leila quickly learned to trust us and she would bark at strange noises outside the house to protect her home. From being told she has had a rough start in life, Leila quickly realized that she was here to stay. During this time, we could see her personality develop as well. As a true Boston Terrier, people are caught off guard when they settle down in our couch and she jumps up and licks their face. Her favorite thing to do is take her Dino-ball, tease us with it, and when we reach for it, she runs away. Her other favorite toy is the rope and would play hours without getting bored of it.

Leila attended several important family functions so far, Thanksgiving, Tamale Day, and Christmas Day. All in all, our friends and families love Leila very much. Most importantly, we love Leila very much and are glad to have her part of our family.

Leila and her best friend Buddy.
