AZBTR Press Release for Quad Cities, Verde Valley, Flagstaff -- Tuesday July 19th, 2022

Exciting news for Boston Terrier Enthusiasts.  Arizona Boston Terrier Rescue (AZBTR), a 501(c)3 charitable organization based in Scottsdale, has been advocating for the breed for nearly 50 years, providing temporary shelter, medical assistance, and rehoming when needed.  They also work with Boston owners who need resources and support to keep their dog healthy, happy, and in their home to help avoid surrendering their pet if possible.

Already established in the Phoenix and Tucson areas, the group recognizes the need and opportunity to widen its outreach regionally and is gearing up to expand in the Quad Cities, Verde Valley, and Flagstaff areas.  Shasta Guthrie of Mayer is a local volunteer and regional contact (shasta@azbtrescue.org).

You can help too, in many ways big and small, one time, or ongoing.  New foster homes will be needed, veterinary and training partners, event volunteers (and attendees), transporters, donors, social media networkers, and of course, adopters!  Foster homes are the bedrock of rescue groups that don't have a facility of their own, they provide a safe haven for pets that are between homes.  AZBTR oversees all the medical care and expenses of their dogs while in foster care including spay/neuter, immunizations, and microchipping.  There are many ways a dog may come into care...their owner may have chosen to rehome them due to financial or housing issues, the owner may have gone into a care facility or passed away, or the dog may be an unclaimed stray.  AZBTR is their safety net.

Check out the website for resources on adoptions, volunteer opportunities, owner education, news, events and more https://www.azbtrescue.org and on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/AZBTR.  Spread the word in your neighborhood on Nextdoor.

Minnie and Junior ***Courtesy List*** -- Friday April 5th, 2019

**Minnie and Junior**

Minnie and Junior are two very loving and energetic Boston’s. They have been together for about two years since they were both around 2. They love to cuddle up together especially when it’s cold (to them anything below 65 degrees.) Minnie has some itchy skin and may require some medical care to treat it. Both dogs are potty trained and kennel trained however Minnie started marking after my two year old was born. I am sure this behavior can be handled with the right caretaker and extra attention Minnie needs and wants. Junior loves to jump up but he does not put much weight at all he just wants to have his cute little face rubbed. They both love to have the ball thrown; however, Minnie is the retriever 99% of the time and Junior plays along. Minnie also loves to swim and will jump in the pool onto a boogie board or even off the diving board. Junior likes the water but he is more of a “hold me and let me float” kind of dog. These two are the best of friends and need to stay together in a forever home. They are great with kids of all ages and even other dogs. Neither are territorial over food. Although they are kennel trained they would prefer to sleep in bed with you. Call or text Rachel at 480-760-1313 if you are interested in giving these Boston Terriers a home.

Buddy ***Courtesy List*** -- Saturday September 29th, 2018

Update:  Buddy has found his Furever home!!

****Courtesy Listing****

Buddy is a 5-year old, 24 lb male Boston Terrier. We adopted Buddy 2.5 years ago and absolutely fell in love with him. His Boston brother, Jack, was just as excited to have a new sibling. He loves to play, chase balls, and eat treats. He equally enjoys being a cuddle bug and falling asleep in your lap. He rarely barks, just when he thinks someone has arrived at his home.

Buddy is crate trained and potty-trained. He is also spayed and chipped.  Buddy does need to be in an enclosed, secure space as he does chase his shadow thinking he is chasing another dog.

We have come to the conclusion that Buddy needs to be the only child in the home. He does have anxiety and occasional aggression out of fear when he is around any other dogs/pets or when he is in very noisy, stressful surroundings. He has never had any aggression towards humans. He is a sweet boy who just needs love, attention, and a calm environment. The best home for Buddy would be one that has humans that work from home, works part time, or are retired-no young children.

Please contact owner’s directly if you are interested in being Buddy’s forever home:
