Tamale (we call him “Jack”) is a young Boston Mix passed to us by Arizona Humane for medical issues. Jack was born with an extra shunt between his major heart arteries that should have closed at birth. It didn’t, and the result was a Grade 5/6 heart murmur that we were expecting to be managed for some period of time with meds and love. When a cardiologist discovered the shunt, also known as Patent Ductus Arteriosis (PDA), we were told that a surgery to close the shunt is CURATIVE.  So Jack underwent specialty surgery to close the duct and his heart murmur is GONE and requires no medication or prescription diet. Jack also has a congenital issue in his left eye called "micropthalmia".  It's basically just an eye that never developed after birth.  The veterinary opthalmologist has confirmed that this issue was not caused by an injury to his eye and that it requires no maintenance.  Jack is a sweet boy who loves kisses, cuddling, playing with toys, walking, everything.  He also loves other dogs and he wants to play, play, play.  We would have no qualms about placing him in almost any home (children, dogs, it's all good) as he is a well-balanced dog and very entertaining and would make a great addition to your family!
